Sushi and hummus sell out at football game concessions
Cal Dining took over concessions at University of California and added some unusual football venue options.
“Our consultants were wrong on the sushi and hummus,” says LaPean, explaining that even his concessions manager, John Gibson, expressed doubts about the sellability of those items. “We sold out of sushi and hummus in the second quarter—even though the sushi had a high price point, $10—and we’ve tripled our order of both for our second game.”
Eating More Legumes May Improve Glycemic Control, Lower Estimated Heart Disease Risk
A randomized controlled trial conducted by the University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital found that eating more legumes (such as beans, chickpeas or lentils) as part of a low-glycemic index diet appears to improve glycemic control and reduce estimated coronary heart disease (CHD) risk in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM).
